Set in 1920s pre-independence India, the film depicts the story of two legendary freedom fighters, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, who fought against the British Raj. The film narrates their story and the events that led them to become revolutionaries. It has collected Rs 1200 crore worldwide.
3. Vakeel Saab
The next most-watched movie on an OTT platform is Vakeel Saab, starring power star Pawan Kalyan, Shruti Haasan, Anjali, Ananya Nagalla, Nivetha Thomas and Prakash Raj. Directed by Sriram Venu, the movie has become a blockbuster hit, surpassing 120 million views on a well-known OTT platform. For the unversed, Vakeel Saab is a remake of the 2016 Hindi film Pink. The film follows a lawyer who takes up a case of three young women who were harassed by a powerful politician’s sons and were falsely accused of a crime they didn’t commit.
4. Nishabdham
Nishabdham, the latest thriller directed by Hemanth Madhukar and starring Anushka Shetty, Madhavan and Anjali, is a must see film. With suspenseful elements, including mystery and thriller, this movie will keep you on the edge of your seat. This film was released directly on an OTT platform on October 2nd of 2020 following a successful run in theaters and has been watched 90 million times as of today.
5. Narappa
Narappa is a period action drama written and directed by Srikanth Addala. It stars Venkatesh and Priyamani in the lead roles with Prakash Raj, Murali Sharma, and Nassar in supporting roles. The film has achieved success in the online streaming platform (OTT) due to its popularity. It has emerged as one of the most-watched Telugu movies with an estimated viewership of 85 million views.
6. Maharshi
‘Maharshi’ is an inspirational action drama written and directed by Vamshi Paidipally starring Mahesh Babu, Pooja Hegde and Allari Naresh in the lead roles. The film follows the story of Rishi, a son of a farmer who returns to his homeland to fight against the injustice and inequality suffered by farmers and the village. The film was released on 9 May 2019 with positive reviews from critics. It received two National Film Awards in the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Best Choreography categories.
